I have been working for the past 17 years with individuals, couples, and families and together we find creative and effective ways to face life's challenges. I received my B.A. in Psychology and my M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy in the United States. I completed my Ph.D. at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where I am a Teaching Fellow, Clinical Supervisor and Program Director for the MASW (Family-centered Practice and Family Therapy) Program. As a Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, I have studied a wide range of therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, child-centered play, family systems (Structural & Bowenian) and post-modern (solution focused, Narrative, and Collaborative dialogic). My recent interest has been on interpersonal neurobiology, mindfulness and trauma-informed therapies that are based on brain research. My guiding approach is a collaborative dialogic approach which involves carefully listening to, and tracking, the verbal expressions and emotions of my clients in a process aimed at identifying and fostering suitable strategies to deal with their life dilemmas.
Having lived in different parts of the world, experienced various cultures and being in a interracial marriage myself, I comfortably work with a culturally diverse clientele. I speak fluent Cantonese, English and Putonghua.
